De film Silent Ones van Ricky Rijneke is weer in de prijzen gevallen. De Nederlandse speelfilm heeft op het Toronto Independent Film Festival de prijs voor beste vrouwelijke regisseur gewonnen.

Silent Ones vertelt het verhaal van een jonge Hongaarse vrouw die nadat haar broertje Isti is verdwenen, vertrekt aan boord van een vrachtschip om haar belofte aan hem na te komen. Het is het speelfilmdebuut van Rijneke. Haar film werd op tientallen festivals op de hele wereld vertoond, waaronder Moskou, Sarajevo, Sao Paulo, Montreal en Rio de Janeiro.

Toronto Indie focusses on truly independent films and runs alongside the Toronto Film Festival. The festival offers a fantastic opportunity for new filmmakers to showcase their achievements, in a space where all the key players of the film industry have gathered.
The festival takes place from September 4 to 13, 2014, at the Carlton Cinema.
